Eh, it's fine. It's a booster seat, so the kid is a bit bigger.

Valid, just found it humorous.

Two things...

Given that we can't actually see the kid and given the shoddy way this booster seat appears to be fixed, I wouldn't be surprised if this seat wasn't being used correctly, by the correctly sized kid.

That said, my S197 Mustang will baby and I believe, strongly, that just about any vehicle can family just fine... and that nanny-state over protective bullshit abounds. Still, doors off too? Not cool, not cool bro.

Doors off, too?

Look. I get it. My parents grew up in a world without seat belts and where kids were often shuttled about in the bed of a truck, the rear of a wagon, or the back of a van... all without proper restraints or protection.

That said, there are a whole fuck lot more cars on the road today.

So, seeing this, I kind of gulp. Any side impact, roll-over or anything like that and this kid is probably fucked. Seems like a bit too much risk for me.

Terrible! Terrible! Terrible!
What secures the child "in" as the seat belt is used to hold the booster seat?

The seatbelt goes over the child's lap and secures both child and booster seat to the seat of the jeep after seat belt is buckled, though in the image the belt needs to run under the arm rest, where the red plastic is. I would be more concerned as to whether the airbag can be disabled with a child in the front seat. If it can't, the child should be in the back seat.

I can confirm this, I own a Firebird. The bucket seats in the back will snug a car seat like no other.

Good parent. I was doing that without a booster seat at 5 years old

Great parent, assuming the drive to the store wasn't very far and at slow speeds.

Also, if you look at where the head adjustment is on the booster seat, that's no little kid sitting there. Hell, now they want kids in boosters until they're 100 lbs!

Yep, but you can't judge whether it is used properly or not based on the picture alone. I know when my son gets in and out of his, the belt gets flung around and ends up all over the place. So, everytime I put him in it, I have to make sure it is routed properly. It's actually easier to buckle it "wrong", then move the buckled belt to the correct position, than to try to pass it under the arms and then buckle.
